James Breckenridge
CSM, U.S. Army, Retired
VRT Veteran Advocate

A native of El Paso, TX, James entered the United States Army in August 1989 and completed One-Station Unit Training at Fort McClellan, AL. His assignments include 40th MP BN (I/R), Fort Leavenworth, KS; 95th MP BN, Sembach, Germany; 18th MP Brigade, Grafenwoehr, Germany, the U.S. Army Military Police School; the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence, Fort Leonard Wood, MO. He culminated his career at the United States Army Criminal Investigation Division and Army Corrections Command.

During his 33 years of service, James has served at all levels of leadership from basic gunner and driver up to Command Sergeant Major (CSM). His last assignment was as the CSM for the Army’s Criminal Investigation Division and the Army Corrections Command

Along with all the normal Army leadership courses, James also attended the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy and the NATO Command Senior Enlisted Leader Course. He has an associate degree in criminal justice from Central Texas College and is currently working on his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Purdue University Global.

James is the recipient of numerous personal and unit awards, top among them are the Legion of Merit (3rd award), the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (5th award), and the Army Commendation Medal (6th award). He is also a MG Aubrey “Red” Newman Award Winner, a member of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club, and Recipient of the MP Corps Regiment’s Order of the Marechaussee (Silver).

James is married to the former Carolyn S. Shibata and they have one child, Sydney, who is a student at the University of Missouri.
